Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is NullPad free?

Yes. NullPad is free to use. Some advanced features may become paid options in the future, but the core experience remains free.

Can I use NullPad offline?

NullPad is local-first. Once the app is loaded in your browser, you can continue taking notes without an internet connection. Your data is saved to your browser's local storage.

What happens if I forget my encryption password?

Since we follow a Zero-Knowledge model, we do not store your password. If you forget it, we cannot recover or reset it for you. Your encrypted data in the cloud will be permanently inaccessible. We strongly recommend storing your password in a secure password manager.

Where is my data stored?

By default, your data is stored in your browser's localStorage. If you enable cloud sync, an encrypted copy is stored in our secure Firebase database.

Does NullPad support Markdown?

NullPad supports a set of Markdown-inspired formatting shortcuts, such as lists, checkboxes, and text formatting. It is not a fully standard Markdown editor — the focus is on an interactive, grid-based layout. For a complete list of supported formatting options, see the Text Formatting section.

Is there a mobile app?

NullPad is designed as a high-performance web application optimized for desktop use. While it can be accessed on mobile, the grid-based note-taking experience is best enjoyed on larger screens.

How do I report a vulnerability?

If you find a security vulnerability, please report it to [email protected]. We highly recommend reading our Responsible Disclosure policy first.

How do I suggest a feature or report a bug?

We'd love to hear from you! If you encounter a feature malfunctioning (bug) or have a suggestion for improvement, please reach out to [email protected].
